Aluclean 18 is a covering and deslagging flux used in aluminum alloy melting and holding furnaces. Aluclean 18 can reduce the formation of oxide inclusions in liquid metals. When used as a slag removal flux, Aluclean 18 must be stirred onto the surface of the liquid metal; It reacts with non-metallic impurities (zinc, magnesium oxides) to help remove floating slag with low metal content. Hot slag can be extruded using a press without further exothermic reactions.
