Crystal 2012/M is a granular modified flux suitable for metallurgical treatment (sodium based) of hypoeutectic and eutectic aluminum silicon alloys (6-13% silicon) in crucible furnaces or ladles. Crystal 2012/M can form modified eutectic silicon fiber structures, and using a small amount of this product can improve the mechanical properties (tensile strength, hardness, ductility) of castings. The atomic sodium introduced by Crystal 2012/M in alloys is highly effective in slowing down the nucleation and growth of silicon crystals, and is prone to forming needle like structures that have a negative impact on alloy properties. Crystal 2012/M will produce a paste like floating slag, which can be easily removed using Crystal 2000 (slag removal version).
